That's me, standing on some liquor shelves installing the 10 Commandments!
This is the first official installation of our unique 10 Commandment display (with the exception of the very, very
first one
that was donated and installed at the Calvary Chapel in Monmouth/Independence, Oregon........my wonderful
Church!),
which just happens to be in a huge liquor store in Albany, Oregon. My Brother in Christ, Darrel Morgan,
owner of the Santiam
Liquor store was the very first to step forward and buy one of these unique displays. Darrel
asked me to add a sign on the
top and bottom saying "The Foundation of Our Country"......"Lest We Never
Forget", slogans which I borrowed for our 10
Commandment Truck/Trailer/Float that won 2 ribbons in the Monmouth/Independence
Western Days 4th of July Parade!
Darrel's huge store in Albany, Oregon (one of the biggest in the entire state); the "10 Commandments Truck/Trailer/Float"
just may
make an appearance in front of this location sometime in the near future!
Above is the 10 Commandment Truck/Trailer/Float and more Uncle Sam friends I met while all of the floats were in the "staging"
area
in preparation for the 4th of July Parade to start in Monmouth/Independence. Yep, we won a first place ribbon for the
"most
effort" category and a 3rd place ribbon for the "over-all" category!.
More friends I met in the "staging area" before the 4th of July Parade got on it's way!
My Calvary Chapel Church also produced the Vacation Bible School float called "Who's the King of the Jungle?",
which won 1st place for
the "over-all" category, thanks in large part to Sharon Hopkins and Marietta Telfer
(the "primary spark-plugs"); our 10 Commandment
Truck/Trailer/Float immediately followed the "Who's
the King of the Jungle?" float. I was riding on the 10 Commandment trailer, waving
to everyone, while Pastor
Rick Hopkins drove the 10 Commandment Truck! Lot's 'o fun was had by all!
